About Us
Judy Bean opened a store in York Beach, Maine as a way to pay for college. This summer venture began a career. After a move to Ogunquit, and a change of focus from swimwear to clothing and accessories The Lazy Daisy was born.
When her sister Susie Bean Lemire and husband Doug sold their pizza/convenience store in Lincolnville Beach, Maine they moved to York with the enthusiasm for a different type of retail sales. Together they combined their entrepreneurial skills. They created The Daisy Trading Company in a small building on Route One in York, Maine, which previously held their mothers antique business. This quickly blossomed as their categories grew to furniture and lamps, home and garden décor, as well as whimsical signs and gifts for all occasions. A larger building and Doug’s active role became eminent as well as a new seasonal location in Ogunquit, also named The Daisy Trading Company.
Finally after many inquiries an ecommerce website arrived!
On May 15, 2007, in a historic building in York Village, Maine, the girls opened a clothing boutique. It was named Daisy Janes . A wonderful addition to the family of stores. Daisy Janes specializes in women’s clothing, carrying lines such as Not Your Daughter's Jeans, JAG, Pure, Joseph Ribkoff, Jess and Jane, Wooden Ships, Nally and Millie, just to name a few. You can also find Brighton, Fly London shoes, an amazing assortment of bath and body products, and beautiful jewelry for all ages.
